Memories are facts you pin to a chat so the character keeps them in mind in future replies. You can save a character's reply as a memory, or write one Permanent Memory yourself.

You must sign in to use memories.

Where to find your memories

In a chat, tap the memory icon in the top bar. On mobile you can also tap Memory just above the message box. A number next to the icon shows how many memories this chat has. The panel shows:

  • Permanent Memory: the one memory you write yourself. It's shown at the top.
  • Saved Memories: replies you've saved, newest first.

Save a reply as a memory

  1. Wait for the character's reply to finish.
  2. Tap the memory icon under the reply.
  3. You'll see "Memory saved" (or "Memory already saved" if you saved it before).

You can only save the character's replies, not your own messages.

Write your Permanent Memory

  1. Open the memory panel and tap Add your permanent memory.
  2. Write what the character should always remember, like your preferences, boundaries, important dates or relationship details.
  3. Tap Save to Permanent Memory (on a computer, tap Done).

Each chat has one Permanent Memory ("1 / 1 used"), and it's free. To change it, tap Edit. Saving again replaces what you wrote before.

Why a memory might not save

  • "Memories describe facts and preferences — they can't contain instructions for the character." Write it as a fact (for example, "I'm vegetarian") instead of a command.
  • "This memory is too long. Try trimming it." Shorten it. A counter below the text box shows how much you've used.
  • "Write something first." The memory can't be empty.
  • "This memory didn't pass review. Try rewording it." Change the wording so it follows our Community Guidelines.
  • "Review is unavailable right now." Wait a moment and try again.

Saved replies can't be edited.

"Under review — not active yet"

Your Permanent Memory may be checked before it takes effect. Until then it's saved, but the character won't use it yet. Once it's approved, it shows Always active.
