Personas: who you are in a chat

A Persona is the identity you play in a story on laffi. It tells characters your name and what they should know about you.

What a Persona includes

• Name (required, up to 40 characters): what characters should call you.
• Gender (optional): male, female or non-binary.
• Photo (optional): JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC. Preview it, then tap Use photo to confirm.
• Description (optional, up to 1,000 characters): who you are in the story and what characters should know about you.

You must sign in to add a Persona. If you start a chat without one, laffi takes you to the screen where you can create one.

Create or manage Personas

1. In a chat, open the Persona panel. It shows your Current Persona and My Personas.
2. Tap Add Persona to create a new one, or tap the pencil next to your current Persona to open it.
3. Tap Manage Personas to see all of them in My Studio, under Personas.

Switching Personas in a chat

In the Persona panel, tap Switch next to another Persona. Each Persona has its own story with a character:

• The first time you pick a Persona for a character, a new story starts.
• When you switch back later, that Persona's story and history come back.
• Your other Persona's story with that character stays as it was. Nothing moves between them, and nothing is deleted.
• Restart story only restarts the story for the Persona you're using right now.

Your default Persona

Your default Persona is used automatically when you start a new story. To change it, go to My Studio > Personas and tap Make default on another Persona, or turn on Use as default Persona while you create or edit one. Your default only applies to new stories.

Deleting a Persona

In My Studio > Personas, tap Delete and confirm. This removes it from My Studio and can't be undone. If it's your last Persona, your list will be empty afterwards.

If a Persona won't load, save or switch, refresh the page and try again. If it still doesn't work, tap the chat bubble at the bottom right of laffi and ask for a person — we'll create a ticket and reply in the app and by email. If you're in a chat and can't see the bubble, open your account menu and choose Feedback, or go to any other page. You can also email [email protected].
